**Carna' s 'inactive' kinases are confirmed to be less active than our 'active' kinase products, and they can become fully catalytically active following phosphorylation by an upstream kinase. In contrast, our 'inactive mutant' kinases are modified to be catalytically inactive, and as such are unable to phosphorylate substrates despite being phosphorylated by upstream kinases.
